Review of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Ace Collins
“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Ace Collins is a 31 day devotional for the month of December to get you ready for the season and the real meaning of Christmas. Beautifully written and heartfelt this little book helps you to refocus on the reason for the season. As December rushes by and the pressure mounts to get the shopping done, presents wrapped, cookies baked and cards mailed this devotional can help you slow down, savor the moment and put peace in your heart.
I have to say I really like this little gem of a book and I plan to read it every Christmas starting on December 1. What you can look forward to everyday is a beautiful passage from Scripture, followed by a retelling of old Christmas traditions or information pertaining to the season (trivia on Christmas, movies, or songs) and how it prayerfully pertains to the season. Included are words to well-loved carols we sang as children and still enjoy as adults. Last, but not least, each day ends with an idea for a handmade gift for a loved one. These little treasures include recipes for baked goods or simple homemade beauty products everyone can enjoy.
If you are dreading all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and yearn for moments of peace and tranquility to focus on the Christ child, this book is for you. Every passage takes only a little time to read and well worth the small effort it will take. In exchange you may find yourself slowing down, smiling and looking at the Christmas season in a whole new light. I found it worthwhile and I think you will too.
