About the Author
Queen Anoshi is a native of Beaufort, S.C. She was born with the gift of making up stories on a whim. She started writing poetry as a young child which was her outlet in conquering different adversities in her life. It wasn't until her service in the Army and her first deployment to Bosnia that she began writing short stories as a way to pass-time away. She felt her writings could take her to a different time and place and that she could become and do anything that her mind could conceive.
From that point, her love for fictional romance began to expound. She takes her personal experiences with love, heartbreak and finding that special person and uses them as a key element in her creative writings. She believes that nothing can be written without having parts of the writer in it.
She wants her readers to relate and connect to her personally as if they walked with her every day. She wants them all to become part of her, "Writer's Soul". Only then can they understand her passion for life and love. She writes romance, psychological suspense and paranormal. Left suddenly penniless, the Honorable Sophia Grafton, a viscount’s orphaned daughter, sails to the New World to claim the only property left to her name: a tobacco plantation in the remote wilds of colonial Virginia. Enlisting the reluctant assistance of a handsome young French spy—at gunpoint— she gathers an unlikely group of escaped slaves and indentured servants, each seeking their own safe haven in the untamed New World.
What follows will test her courage and that of her companions as they struggle to survive a journey deep into a hostile wilderness and eventually forge a community of homesteads and deep bonds that will unite them for generations.
The first installment in an epic historical trilogy by Helen Bryan, the bestselling author of War Brides and The Sisterhood, The Valley is a sweeping, unforgettable tale of hardship, tenacity, love, and heartache.
Review of Helen Bryan's "The Valley"
“The Valley” by Helen Bryan is a beautiful novel of love, loss and friendship spanning several generations from the 1750’s to the 1830’s. The Honorable Sophia Grafton has everything a young entitled woman could want, beauty, a doting father and a grand estate in England she will inherit one day. However, life does not turn out as expected for Sophia. Upon her father’s death she learns that the estate is in arrears and any property or monies she was to inherit is now gone. The only thing left to her is a large portion of land in Virginia granted to her father from the King. Determined to pay off her father’s debt and one day return to reclaim her property Sophia leaves for the New World and her new life in Virginia.
However, in order to turn her land in Virginia into a thriving plantation she must enlist the help of a handsome man from her past, abused slaves running from their master and a father and two sons escaping servitude. Often difficult, but worth the challenge, together they work Sophia’s land to forge a new life for themselves while developing friendships that will span a generation and last a lifetime.
I really liked this book. Anyone who has spent time in Colonial Williamsburg will particularly enjoy picturing the sites and buildings described by Helen Bryan in her novel. The characters had distinctive personalities and all woven together made a beautiful patchwork quilt of love and family. Overall my favorite characters in “The Valley” were Sophia and Meshack. Sophia’s development through the book was amazing to watch, from a spoiled child, to a beautiful young woman, to a determined land owner in a new world responsible for not only herself but for those she took along to help. Her fierce love for her family and loyalty to her friends was something to behold. Her strength of character, courage and stubbornness was a combination of Cora Cash (An American Heiress) and Scarlett O’Hara (Gone With The Wind).
Meshack was strong and fierce and a force to be reckoned with in times of trouble, but had a wonderful gentle and tender side for those he loved and cared for. I particularly enjoyed the bond he and Malinda shared, I loved the scenes between the two of them. My only disappointment was Henri. Henri did what he had to do to help those he care for survive, but I just wish he would have loved Sophia a little more than he did. I always felt like he gave only half of himself and held back the rest. Watching the adults and children grow and change over the decades gave me a sense of closure, yet I hated to see them go.
Well worth the time “The Valley” is a wonderful read, especially if you like Historical Fiction. It has beautiful characters, love, courage, adventure and friendships that last a lifetime. You will feel a variety of emotions as you read through the story and the characters will stay with you long after the last page is turned. Best of all this is Book 1 of a planned Trilogy, so I have more to look forward to from the author. Do yourself a favor and begin “The Valley” today.

On his 50th birthday, recently divorced male model Dane Vanderbrouk, is struck by a peculiar affliction. If he remains still for too long, he falls back in time. If he moves too fast, he'll travel forward. And, when you’re a time traveler the world is an immutable place. Every action vanishes with each jump in time.
Chased by an assassin from the future through the narrow streets of Amsterdam, Dane is thrust into a war where shaping the future means changing the past.
Fast paced action, unexpected twists, and an eclectic cast of characters will pull you into a world where impressions matter, but only an action of consequence can change the future.
Time travel has a new speed, and adventure in a new series.
I don't often read time travel novels, mostly because they don't come across my path too often and because I don't like heavy science fiction, but Time Phantom is not heavy scifi and was fantastic. I thought the writing was great, the pace fast, and the author's style was easily read. I quite loved the premise of this male model, just turning 50, recently divorced--a precarious state in his life--suddenly becoming afflicted with this time travel ability. Overall, this was a great book. It was filled with action that kept the pages turning and fun characters, with an empathetic MC. Great read! I think Time Phantom would satisfy a diverse group and recommend this to fans of time travel, general fiction with action, and scifi.,

I have to say I really like this little gem of a book and I plan to read it every Christmas starting on December 1. What you can look forward to everyday is a beautiful passage from Scripture, followed by a retelling of old Christmas traditions or information pertaining to the season (trivia on Christmas, movies, or songs) and how it prayerfully pertains to the season. Included are words to well-loved carols we sang as children and still enjoy as adults. Last, but not least, each day ends with an idea for a handmade gift for a loved one. These little treasures include recipes for baked goods or simple homemade beauty products everyone can enjoy.
If you are dreading all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and yearn for moments of peace and tranquility to focus on the Christ child, this book is for you. What might happen if you gave just ONE PERCENT of your day to God?
I don’t have time to pray. I don’t know how to pray. I don’t know what to pray for. Perhaps you identify with one or all of these statements; most people do. But with Gary Jansen’s The 15-Minute Prayer Solution, anyone can learn to turn those “I don’t” statements into “I do” declarations— and be transformed in the process.
Drawing on spiritual practices from the Christian tradition throughout the centuries, Jansen offers numerous and wide-ranging prayer exercises that can be completed in less than fifteen minutes. The Jesus Prayer, lectio divina, the Examen, imaginative prayer, and many more ways to joyfully encounter the Living God are explained. Deeply personal stories, thought provoking modern-day parables, and even humorous anecdotes bring spiritual ideas down to earth, revealing the practical side of prayer.
And, as Jansen himself discovered, if you’re willing to take just fifteen minutes a day to pray, you may soon find that the entirety of your life has become a prayer, a relentless desire to place God at the center of everything.
Review of The Fifteen Minute Prayer Solution
Gary Jansen inspired by the writings and spirituality of St. Ignatius started a spiritual experiment to experience God more fully and intimately in his life. Starting with just fifteen minutes a day (1% of a 24 hour period), through formal heartfelt prayer, Gary Jansen found his relationship with God coming alive and changing. God was no longer elusive to him, but alive and waiting for him to (as he says) catch up. Gary began to seek God everywhere and in everything craving a deeper relationship with the Father. Prayer, meditation and scripture became a way of life needing it as much as the air he breathed. Fifteen minutes a day became a process that took him through his entire day, where God remained with him in all he did. Life became a constant prayer and this in turn gave him peace that energized him to share what he gained with others Thus we are privileged to be given his experience for us to follow in “The 15-Minute Prayer Solution”. Filled with his experience and examples we find a blueprint to follow for the peace and serenity that can be ours if we are willing to give up 1% of our day to God through simple prayer, meditation and scripture. Through these simple guidelines we too can see God in everything and everyone and become what we focus on.
I really liked Gary Jansen’s “The 15-Minute Prayer Solution”. Told with humor and sincerity, Gary allows the reader to discover through his own personal experience how this process changed his life and relationship with God. He takes the reader through his process one step at a time and explains the benefit of each step. He is so passionate about his experience and want to give that life changing experience to everyone. He divides his book into four parts where prayer, mediation and scripture play vital roles in his process. Part Four is particularly compelling as he gives us a 7 day plan of spiritual exercising with the Parables. Easy to read and even easier to follow, Gary Jansen makes a good case for changing our lives and changing our hearts.
If your curiosity is peaked, or your spiritual life feels like it is running on empty give “The 15-Minute Prayer Solution” a try. Peace, happiness and a deeper relationship with the Almighty seems like a huge gain for giving up just fifteen minutes a day. I urge you to give it a try. I’m glad I did. What do you have to lose?
